Subtle Bluntness

Something about this just gets my head bobbing.  For realz, yo.  Actually, not for realz, but the best part is at the end, so feel free to skip ahead about halfway, but it’s pretty funny throughout.

As my friend Andrew said, “I look forward to what things will be like in 50 years.  Retirement homes with outspoken punks, rappers, and metalheads.”  I had never thought about it that way, but it’s true.  We’ll probably also have litanies of wrinkled old tattoos and saggy pierced tits and toothless mouths with tongue studs.

But that’s tomorrow.  Let’s worry about today first, shall we?  Time to go for a ride.

I love this song, I love this band. They didn’t play this last time I saw them play (that I can remember, but I was kind of feeling the cumulative effect of a multitude of beverages), but I hope they will play this song and Galaxy 500 the next time I see them.

So, you want to know what I’ll be doing tomorrow about this time? Well, that’s a great question, and let me put it to you this way:

Reverend Horton Heat, Hank Williams III, and Nashville Pussy at Nashville’s beautiful performance venue, The Cannery Ballroom. I will be there with bells on, and if you’re one of Nashville’s illustrious blogging community and you’re going to be there, say hi. I accept free drinks, hearty handjobs handshakes, cash prizes, and of course bits of string.

First person to spot me and say hi gets a free drink. I’ll be the guy in jeans and the shirt below (it’s actually red); not that one, the one with the goatee standing awkwardly off by himself, praying for a familiar face to follow around all night.

Author’s note: The Cannery may not, in fact, be beautiful. For all I know it’s a shithole and I’ll get stabbed on my way back to my car after the show. Your mileage may vary.

So this is what I did with my night. Enjoy (and if you don’t enjoy, keep it to yourself).

It was ridiculously easy, and I didn’t even use the easy option! I used the full, powerful, linear editor. The hardest part was actually finding the appropriate random pictures on Google. Uploading the pictures was a snap. Doing the few animations was simple as pie. Adjusting just how long you want each image to display was a simple click and drag on a scroll bar. If I can do this, anyone can do this. If you don’t want to take the time to build the video yourself, you can use the quick edit option like I did to throw together my little poll about the ‘don’t taze me bro’ guy.

Am I a big MySpace user? No, not really. But will I probably use Flektor to make stuff for here, Sports Bastards, or Den of Geek? Yeah, I definitely think I’ll do that (especially for Sports Bastards, because I have some ideas for nominating a certain Deadspin meme for President in 2008).

EDIT 9/26 3:55 PM: At the suggestion of Flektor master Justice, I’m going to try to add some video of Jim shredding the guitar solo in the middle of the flek, rather than the long slow pan of the still picture of him. That’d kick ass.
