Here’s your catch-up, ripe as peaches

Here’s some things I’ve done lately:
Rest.
Go through a mini-quarter-life crisis/turn 29.
Think up 10 possible new faces for The Expendables 2.
See Dinner For Schmucks.
See The Sorceror’s Apprentice.
Correspond quite a bit with the more-successful, less-bearded version of me.  (It’s very strange to meet your Google shield.)
Spend most of the summer working with a Mac computer.  Realize that [...]

Tapping The Cultural Zeitgeist, One Hate-Filled Rant At A Time

Published by Ron under Randumb Thoughts

One of the weirdest feelings I’ve ever found myself experiencing happened to me today.  No, I didn’t make a prune and coffee smoothie again.  I was looking at a review of the Adult Swim In A Box DVD set on TV Squad and went to Wikipedia to look up one of the shows.  I think [...]

To Cheer Us All Up

Published by Ron under Randumb Thoughts

To cheer us all up after the depressing Where the Wild Things Are, I figured we could turn to cheer-master Wes Anderson.
Well, that was very, uh… *breaks down sobbing*  OH GOD WHY?!  LIFE SUCKS, LET’S ALL JUST DIE ALREADY!!!

Why Paranormal Activity Sat Around For Two Years

Paranormal Activity, the hit new horror movie, was made in 2007.  Have you ever wondered just why the movie sat around for two years?  Well I did, so I researched it and wrote about it for Den of Geek.  Go read it, and when you come back, we can talk about the companies that control [...]

Funny People Review–Special 2-page Director’s Cut

Gonna do something a little different today, gang.  I wrote a nice review of Funny People for Den of Geek (number one at the box office, and number one in our hearts), but not only was it a little long, it was a little inappropriate for the audience involved.  Mostly because people couldn’t care less [...]

Michael Jackson Now Filming Thriller 2

Published by Ron under Comedy Gold, Music, Randumb Thoughts, Zombies

Me: Why did you have to go and kill Michael Jackson?
Garth Marenghi: I’m sorry.
Me: Now his zombie won’t stop dancing on my lawn
Garth Marenghi: It’s like “Return of the Living Dead II” only real. No one deserves that. If only I’d known this would happen, I’d’ve spared his life.
Me: luckily for me he seems a [...]

Atmosfear

Published by Ron under Blog Business, Randumb Thoughts

Wired: But “real” for you is so … unreal. You set The Strain in New York. In the past, your depictions of the city, from Mimic to Blade II to Hellboy, have had a fabulous aspect.
del Toro: It comes from my first trip to New York as a child. I was walking around Central Park, [...]

go back to middle school, junior! leave the bloggy to the adults

Published by Ron under Randumb Thoughts

When I say this is the first time in 10 years I’ve been without a goatee or beard or something on my face, that is not an exaggeration.  Yes, I know I look thinner.  Yes, I know I look younger.  Yes, I’m hoping it grows back very quickly.
At least now I know what I look [...]

Feel Good Friday: I’m Coming Home

Published by Ron under Comedy, Randumb Thoughts, Television

SuperJail is one of the best shows on TV right now.  If you’re not watching it, then you’re missing out on some of the most hilarious violence on screen since the climactic lawnmower scene in Peter Jackson’s Dead Alive.  But me saying that doesn’t prove anything, so watch this video instead.

The Stabbing Of Pressed Ham 123.

In happier, healthier times, I was reviewing baseball games for the Wii.  But in this dark day, I’ve found myself repeating my name and address about a thousand times on doctor forms. Two things I love: obnoxious bureaucracy and paying someone to tell me something’s wrong with me!
As it turns out, I’ve never been to [...]
