Feel Good Friday: Double Feature
I’ve been attending the hell out of the Baxter Avenue Theaters October extravaganza, Horror Through The Decades. Every Saturday night at midnight, they’ve screened a different horror film from a different decade. I’ve already seen The Tingler (awesome) and Rosemary’s Baby (also awesome). This week is The Exorcist (can’t wait), with Beetlejuice and Bram Stoker’s Dracula finishing out the month. (Not going to lie, if I’m missing one it’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula, even if they’re also having a costume contest that night.)
It’s been a lot of fun, and it also reminds me just how much I love watching movies A) in the middle of the night and 2) with a crowd of cinephiles. I’m not talking the typical Friday Night Gaggle Of Morons, but people who appreciate movies and know when to shut the fuck up. I don’t mind response noise, but I do mind chatter, texting, and all the other crap that people do in movies now because we can’t stop twitching long enough to pay attention to 90 minutes, let alone something as slow-growth as Rosemary’s Baby.
But you’re not here for my hateful ranting, you’re here for music. And since this is a DOUBLE feature, here’s my personal favorite song from the entire Rocky Horror Picture Show. Plus it’s a really fun, kind of random moment in an Australian show I know absolutely nothing about.
After seeing Zombieland the other night at a midnight showing, I was looking for more midnight movies around here. One midnight show I want to see is Rocky Horror, which they have had from time to time.
I have to agree with you on film audiences, just based on my limited experience. The audience in Zombieland was a lot more behaved than the one in Jennifer’s Body. I didn’t see cell phones, but the talking and commotion almost made me get up to complain. (But I didn’t want to miss anything in the movie.)
I figure it has to do with the crowd being really amped for Zombieland and really limp for Jennifer’s Body.
