To Catch A Polanski
Via YBNBY, here’s a great mash-up of one of my favorite pop cultural phenomena with one of the biggest news stories of the past few weeks. As always, the moral of our story here is don’t rape children.
And yes, before anyone rises to defend their favorite non-Victor Salva pedophile director, it was rape. It wasn’t “she was 13 but she was asking for it,” it was “she was 13, she said no, I got her drunk and gave her pills, she kept saying no and crying, so I fucked her in the ass anyway.” Normal people who rape barely-teenagers go to jail. Normal people who run from the cops go to jail even longer.
If there’s any justice, Roman Polanski will get thrown into jail where he’ll become the 13-year-old girl.
I don’t defend his actions, because a 44 year old man should not be having sex with a 13 year old. I kind of feel sorry for his victim, because this is all dredged up for her again. However, I agree that he deserves to get thrown in jail and made into a 13 year old girl because otherwise the message goes out that if you have enough money or fame, you can escape justice. I know the victim has said he has been punished enough, but living the high life in France doesn’t seem so harsh a punishment to me.
I agree — I think Polanski is a good director but that doesn’t excuse him from being a rapist. to me, it has nothing to do with age. I mean, it’s really weird that a 13 year old would have sex with a much older guy, but that’s not even the problem. it’s that he drugged her and gave her booze. even a 30 year old woman would have been raped in that case.
Lynda: I think that’s why she’s not looking for any justice in this case anymore. She’s ready to be done with it, she got paid off years ago, and now she just wants it all to go away so she can stop being “that chick Roman Polanski raped” and start being a normal person.
Samantha: Agreed. He shouldn’t have drugged her, and he definitely shouldn’t have fled the country because he thought he wouldn’t get his easy-peasy plea bargain honored.
